Stewart Mixon is the Chief Operations Officer for the Medical University of South Carolina, a state university with a medical center and six colleges for healthcare and medical education, staffed with over 12,000 employees. As COO, Stewart has oversight responsibilities for the Business Services, Human Resource Management, Public Safety and Risk Management functions. Prior to accepting his position in 2002, Stewart served the University of Florida and East Carolina University in various human resources positions over a span of 20 years.

Stewart is a past president of the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR), and has made numerous presentations to national, regional and local HR groups. He has a Masters degree in Public Administration from University of Florida.
