Kevin Brown is an IBM Senior Technical Staff Member (STSM). He joined IBM in 2001 with the Informix acquisition. Kevin is currently the lead architect for IBM Informix Dynamic Server (IDS), a relational database server which excels at high-volume and high-performance online transaction processing. The IDS server is also legendary for its reliability, ease of use, scalability, data replication and extensibility. Kevin's responsibilities include driving the technical strategy and direction of the Informix product set and evangelizing the merits of IDS. Kevin started in the database industry 25 years ago with Britton-Lee, the maker of the world’s first database machine. He went on to work at Illustra to help produce the first commercial object-relational database. When Illustra was acquired by Informix, he worked on IDS extensibility capabilities, including support for time series and real-time data. As lead architect for IBM's Informix product line, Kevin is currently concentrating on the roadmap for IDS and beyond. Kevin received his degree in computer science from the University of California at Berkeley.
